CASE STUDY
COVID-19 has changed the way education is conducted worldwide, leaving education institutions with no choice but to adapt to online live teaching in 2020. Amidst the shift to online learning, Sauwat recognized the opportunity to improve the quality of education in developing countries, and this gave birth to Sauwat.Education, an EduTech HR startup company.
The ideation for Sauwat.Education began in March 2020 with Sauwat Strategy’s CEO Akhmet Ishmukhamedov, together with a co-founding CTO from bookings.com, and the company came to fruition in October 2020 with the support of several NUS business school students and partner technical developers from India, BoTree and EngineerBabu.
Sauwat.Education was established with the aim of fighting the gap between rich and poor by providing access to affordable high-quality education. It has a B2B business model and connects schools and other education centers with high quality teachers that teach live online courses across different academic disciplines. Its business model can be though of as the UBERisation of education.
Having received its first business angel investments of SG$30k after establishment, it is now targeting two main markets for overseas expansion selected based on market analysis, Kazakhstan and Indonesia, followed by other developing markets such as Brazil, Kenya, and Nigeria. As part of Sauwat.Education’s market entry strategy, the company seeks to connect with private schools and establish partnerships with teacher associations from these countries.
Sauwat.Education welcomes the support of Venture Capitals and other partners on board its journey to bridge the gap between rich and poor through affordable high-quality education.
